Stripes to the Theatre
My sister surprised me with tickets to a play (!!!) so i thought the occasion called for some elevated stripes (+ crystal embellishments).
Sometimes the variety of stripes surprises the crap out of me. Even when you're just touching on the basics, like how horizontal stripes make for one of the best classic casual Tees, while vertical ones are more slimming, and also tend to look much more formal. If you get into all the different thicknesses and distance variations there are that allow stripes to create illusions on different parts of your body too!! -- it's kind of crazy how we can use these minor optical illusions to our advantage once we understand our body type and how to accentuate the proper areas. And i will post more on that at a later date.
Today i am wearing culottes, which can be a constant challenge for women who are not as vertically endowed because they can easily make your bottom half look wider and not pairing these loose structured pieces properly can make an outfit look messy and unpolished, real fast. I thought the vertical striped pattern on this pair was the perfect solution because it lengthens the legs quite nicely, gave some order to the flowy leg sleeves and was a very appropriate, polished piece to wear to the theatre :)
